Good information everyday and excellent guide’s are two of the main reasons that travellers choose Oz Experience over other companies.
Our guides can tell you about why and when things happened. They bring the country to life so you understand what you are looking at and where you are. Oz Ex guides know every inch of the East Coast and beyond; it’s their backyard, and they love it. Guides are also like your own personal travel agent, they can book your optional activities you want to do as well.
So let’s introduce you to a couple of our guides:
Oz Ex Guide: Binks
Binks has been around the East Coast of Oz for a while. There’s very few places that she doesn’t know about. If you’re lucky enough to have her as a guide ask her about roadside barramundi fishing in the 2008 Queensland floods.
Q. Favorite part of part of Oz?
A. That would have to be Mooloolaba on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Its still got a great small town feel to it. Oz Experience drops off at Mooloolaba. I’ve never had an unhappy traveller get on my buses after a stop in Mooloolaba. It’s got everything you need for a small seaside town: clean safe beaches, good pubs, and for the thrill seekers the option to swim with sharks (not in the ocean) at under water world.
Q. Hobbies?
A. Having been brought up by the water would have to be water skiing, fishing and sailing. I love Airlie Beach as a backpacker destination because of the fantastic sailing options. Anyone on my bus who said they didn’t have time to go to Airlie has always been convinced to.
Q. Tips for Travellers
A. As Oz Experience Guides we travel the East Coast a lot. We know a thing or two about the best of everything along the way; and the worst of everything as well. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed so we highly recommend you listen to our advice; take it on board. We're there to help you so don’t be afraid of asking us questions.
Q. Where am I from?
A. I am proud to say I grew up in the fabulous wine country of the Hunter Valley, home of the “box of the goon”. Remember if you see it "slap the goon". (editors note: you’ll know the goon when you see the goon)
Q. Favorite overnight stop?
A. That would have to be Rainbow Beach in Queensland. I love the family feel to the place. It’s small and personal. The Frasers on Rainbow hostel has a great little bar so it’s a great place to get to know people in a totally chilled atmosphere.
Thanks Binks!
Oz Ex Guide: Sconzey
Sconzey hails from the East Coast beaches of Sydney. He has a deep respect and passion for the ocean so it’s no wonder that surfing is his hobby. We asked Sconzey a few questions.
Q. Sconzey, what’s your favorite part of Australia?
A. Easily the East Coast. It’s got it all: the best beaches on the planet, magnificent
Islands; The Great Barrier Reef; Rainforest, and of course the Woolshed Bar in Cairns.
Q. What do you when you’re not guiding Oz Experience?
A. Easy: surfing
Q. What tips can you give to our travellers?
A. There are 3 magic words you can use on the east coast. I call them the the keys to the nation. Shout them, whisper them, and say them with a wink and sit back and enjoy the benefits they give you. Watch as available hostel beds magically appear, bistro meals are suddenly discounted and nightclub queues dissolve before your eyes. The 3 magic words? 1 = OZ 2 = EXPERIENCE 3 = PASSENGER. If that fails tell them that Frat sent you.
Q. Where am I from?
A. Cronulla Beach on Sydney’s East Coast. I've been blessed to grow up surfing with mates before and after school and spending weekends water skiing the bay or camping in the Royal National Park, which is just a ferry ride away. AWESOME !
Q. Best overnight stop on Oz Experience?
A. Kroombit Cattle station - Cowboy fun with ropes, whips n guns .... a bucking great time, every time 'RAW-HIDE!'
